If you have been looking for a place where you can realize your potential with the help of a positive, supportive network of sisters, NCNW is the place for you. Through national programs and through the work of over 200 sections and 32 national affiliate organizations, NCNW helps women enhance their health, knowledge, and personal satisfaction to improve their communities.

 

Your membership helps NCNW to promote and recognize leadership among women of color; champion women’s rights and civil rights; celebrate and strengthen the African American family; and work toward the economic empowerment of African American women all over the world.

Mary McLeod Bethune School

NCNW Philadelphia Section provides activities and support services for our adopted Mary McLeod Bethune School in Philadelphia. We provide Good Health Wins literature and other resources during the school’s Back-to-School Block Party, and we proudly support their holiday Adopt-a-Family program.

 

Scholarship

Each year, the NCNW Philadelphia Section Scholarship is open to a graduating senior attending a Philadelphia County high school  and meet the following criteria:

  • Applicant must be a resident of Philadelphia County
  • Applicant must be a graduating senior attending a Philadelphia County high school
  • Applicant must show evidence of outstanding academic achievement (GPA 3.0 or higher)
  • Applicant must have applied to an accredited college or university
  • Most recent high school transcript including grades through December 2023. (Interviewee will be required to submit an official transcript before the scholarship is awarded.)
  • One page personal statement (300-500 words)
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation. One from the high school ( teacher, counselor, principal or coach) and one from the community (faith based leader, community leader, etc.) on business letterhead. Family members and friends are excluded.
  • Headshot must be uploaded with the application
  • Signed Student Declaration
  • Applications will be available on December 1, 2023 and the deadline is February 2, 2024
